Crashing Cars for a Cause

Parkside Community Club Charity Car
The Parkside Community Club introduced the Charity Car initiative in 2017 as a creative way to engage the community, showcase local talent, and support important causes. The concept was born out of our committee's desire to give more people the chance to participate in our annual demolition derby—especially those who may not have the time, resources, or experience to build a car themselves.
Recognizing the impressive skill and experience of our members—many of whom have become seasoned builders of derby cars—we decided to harness that expertise for a good cause. The idea was simple: build a themed demolition derby car with the help of volunteers, auction off the chance to drive it in the derby to the highest bidder, and donate the proceeds to a selected charity.
To bring the project to life, we secured sponsorships for parts and supplies, and organized a series of “work bee” evenings where volunteers came together to build and paint the car. Countless volunteer hours went into the process, making it a true community effort.
Since its inception, the Charity Car has become a much-anticipated part of our annual event, offering a unique opportunity for derby fans to get behind the wheel while supporting a worthy cause!
